Help Wanted Index

Help Wanted Index (HWI) provides the number of help-wanted advertisements for recent month. It embraces a certain number of the largest regional mass media. The index value is given in comparison with 1987, which is taken for basic year and which index is equal to “100”.

While analyzing this index, classical moving averages are applied. If moving average tells about change in index direction, it also reveals change of the situation on the labor market. Besides, index conveys the information about regional economical development in the USA.

The index value is published on the last Thursday of every month at 10:00 a.m EST, upon that, the market is barely touched by it.
