U.S. airstrike on Baghdad airport

#WTI:

U.S. airstrike on Baghdad airport kills Iran's most important military commander, sending the price of oil skyrocketing. We are expecting a continuation of the bullish rally in the oil market this week! Qassem Soleimani was commander of the elite Quds force, an arm of the Revolutionary Guard. He was widely seen as the second-most powerful man in Iran after Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Iran promised swift retaliation. The reduction of oil reserves in American storage facilities will provide additional support to the market. Oil inventories sank by 11.46 million barrels for the week ended Dec. 27, the EIA reported.

Trading recommendation: Buy 62.90 and take profit 63.55

XAUUSD:

Gold has tested a three-month high amid geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Iran vowed revenge after Qassem Soleimani, head of its elite Quds Force, was killed in the air strike that was authorized by President Donald Trump. Gold prices to remain firm on the possible escalation in geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Additional support for gold will be provided by negative macroeconomic statistics from the United States. The Institute for Supply Management said its index of national factory activity fell to 47.2 last month from 48.1 in November. It was the lowest reading since June 2009.

Trading recommendation: Buy 1555 and take profit 1570.

Negative macroeconomic statistics force investors to close long positions and take profits. The Institute for Supply Management said its index of national factory activity fell to 47.2 last month from 48.1 in November. It was the lowest reading since June 2009. ISM's employment index fell to 45.1 in December from 46.6 in November, the lowest reading since January 2016. And new orders dropped to 46.8, the lowest since April 2009, from 47.2. A reading above 50 indicates expansion in the manufacturing sector and a reading below 50 indicates contraction.

Trading recommendation: Sell 3233 and take profit 3215.
