The Pfizer said its COVID-19 vaccine was 95% effective and it would apply for emergency U.S. authorization within days. U.S. homebuilding increased more than expected in October as the housing market continues to be driven by record low mortgage rates. Housing starts rose 4.9% to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.530 million units last month. That lifted homebuilding closer to its pace of 1.567 million units in February. Permits for future homebuilding were unchanged at a rate of 1.545 million units in October, the highest since March 2007. This is a positive signal for the U.S. economy and the stock market.
