May month is coming to its end, which mens that it is the right time to study month results of trading in “FreshForex” and underline the most significant market events of May.
Volatility of the most popular pair EUR/USD was the same as in the last month: trading range did not exceed 500 points. The strongest flucuations were in the beginning and end of the month. In the beginning of the month, they were caused by decrease in interest rate by the European Central Bank to 0,5%.
US dollar got weaker against its major competirors because of the US economic data. In May EUR/USD pair stopped on the level of 1,3060. Besides, international rating agency Moody's Investors Service adjuested its forecast for the US bank system by upgrading its status from “negative” to “stable”.
Apart from EUR/USD pair, attention of the market participants was focused on the events around Japanese Yen. In particular, influence of aggressive credit system on “revival” of Japanese economy was discussed. For example, in May USD went above 100 Yen in the first time for the recent 4 years. Metals, gold and silver did not grow or decline significantly over this month.
